Types of Automation tools:

Automation tools are 3 types, i.e.

            1. Test Management Tools

                 Example:- QC, Clear quest and MTM

            2. Functional or Regression testing tools

                  Example:-

                 HP Toolsà Win Runner, QTP

                 Compuware à QA runner, Test Partner

                 Rational Robert

                 Selenium (Open source tools means free tool)

          Test Complete

    Silk Test

    VSTS Testing tools (Like coded UI, Unit test, Web performance test, load test etc..)

           3.  Performance Testing Tools

                    Example:- Load runner, Silk performer, VSTS tools( Like Load test, Web Performance Test)

3. Different Types of Software Licenses:-

1.      Floating: Installing S/W with CD Key or Serial Number. But, now HP is not issuing this type of license for QTP software.

2.      Node Lock:  For this license, vendors are collecting the installing machine Microprocessor serial number, Hard Disk Serial number and Host Id (containing 12 Character) information and prepare license.

Node Lock: - Node lock license is two types. 1) Seat License and 2) Concurrent License

1. Seat license:-  QTP Demo  Version (14 days valid) has seat license. It creates registry keys and validates the period.

2. Concurrent License:   Store QTP S/W in one server and install QTP on required machine through network Access. This license is two type’s 1.Fixed number of users and 2.Unlimited users.

For Concurrent license vendor gives following CDs

1)      License server CD

2)      QTP software CD

3)      Service Pack / Host Fix CD

4)      If purchased additional Add – INS, then vendor give Add in software in separate CDs.

Types of License Errors:

1.      If microprocessor or Hard disk changed, it will through Host Id Error

2.      IP address changed, QTP will give license error

3.      Number of users exceeded maximum number (Limitation of number) of users, it will through floating error or Users exceeded.
